Background
The Australia-Indonesia Partnership Towards an Inclusive Society, or INKLUSI, is working to increase the participation of marginalised groups in, and their benefit from, Indonesia’s socio-cultural, economic and political development. INKLUSI works with government and civil society partners to advance their work in gender equality, the rights of persons with disabilities and social inclusion. INKLUSI supports the Government of Indonesia’s agenda for inclusion, including through national development plans and the Sustainable Development Goals.
INKLUSI is an 8-year (2021-2029) bilateral Australian and Indonesian Government program with a budget of up to AUD 120 million. It is partnering with 10 Indonesian civil society organisations and their networks across 34 provinces, >140 districts and >600 villages in Indonesia.
Duty Statement
The Communications Officer (CO) will support the Senior Communications Officer and report to the Communications Manager in the day-to-day implementation of INKLUSI’s communications strategy. Responsibilities include assisting in the production of communications materials, maintaining digital platforms, and supporting partner engagement activities. The CO is also expected to contribute to team planning meetings, provide regular activity updates, and support the preparation of periodic program reports as required.
Specific Duties
Content Production and Digital Media
- Assist in developing communications materials including website articles, social media posts, newsletters, infographics, and presentation materials in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
- Support the management of INKLUSI website, including uploading stories, photos, research, and program achievements.
- Support the production of audio-visual and multimedia materials, including photography and videography documentation of program activities.
- Draft and proofread communications content for internal and external audiences.
Operational Supports
- Provide administrative and logistical support in organising events, workshops, joint-learning activities, networking events, and conferences related to the program.
- Assist in maintaining and updating the media contact database and supporting media monitoring activities.
- Support in coordinating with vendors, designers, and external contractors for communications-related production needs.
- Assist in maintaining the INKLUSI photo and video library and asset management system.
Stakeholder Engagement Support
- Support communications preparation and follow-up for Government of Indonesia and Government of Australia visits, including coordination with partners, briefing materials, key messages, documentation, visibility materials, and media or social media support as required.
- Assist the Senior Communications Officer in providing support to INKLUSI partners in the implementation of their communications activities under annual work plans.
- Help to document and disseminate partner success stories, best practices, and program impacts for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support capacity development and training activities for partners in communications, as required.
- Assist in facilitating information sharing among national and local partners and other stakeholders, including through digital channels.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum 3-4 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, media, or a related area (internship experience may be considered).
- Strong writing and editing skills in Bahasa Indonesia; working proficiency in English.
- Experience in managing social media platforms and digital content.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or Illustrator.
- Experience with WordPress or other content management systems.
- Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Interest in or commitment to issues of gender equality, disability, social inclusion, and development.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a development program or NGO context.
- Basic photography and/or videography skills.
- Knowledge of DFAT communication standards and guidelines is an advantage.
