About PRYAKKUM

Pusat Rehabilitasi Yayasan Kristen untuk Kesehatan Umum (YAKKUM Rehabilitation Centre/ PRYAKKUM) is a civil society organisation focused on advancing the rights of persons with psychosocial disabilities through community-based social rehabilitation and inclusive policy advocacy.

Through the INKLUSI Program, PRYAKKUM implements the DIGNITY Programme (Disability Inclusion Through Strengthening Local to National Capacity and Policy) to strengthen disability justice capacity and policy from the local to the national level.

Working Areas

Activities

Right-Based Service

PRYAKKUM ensures that persons with psychosocial disabilities have full access to public services and rehabilitation centres, including protection from violence, community-based rehabilitation, and stronger roles for families, communities, and disability leadership.

Community-based Rehabilitation (CBR)

Strengthening health services, including reproductive health, for persons with psychosocial disabilities at community health centres and integrated health posts, while promoting collaboration among government, the private sector, and academia for inclusive employment.

Self-Help Group (SHG)

Promoting the meaningful participation of persons with mental disabilities through groups that provide social rehabilitation, training, and community support.

Disability Movement Coalition

Collaborating with disability organisations to promote accessibility, equality, and legal protection through training, mentoring, and multi-stakeholder dialogue.

Economic Empowerment and Inclusive Employment

Strengthening the capacity of service providers, facilitating the involvement of Vocational Training Centres (BLK) and employers, and expanding access to soft loans for MSMEs run by persons with disabilities through links with local companies, Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes), and Community BLKs.

Strengthening Rehabilitation Centres to Apply P5HAM

Encouraging public and private rehabilitation centres to apply the P5HAM principles (Respect, Protection, Fulfilment, Enforcement, and Advancement of Human Rights) through capacity building for managers, development of SOPs, and networking with community health centres, social affairs offices, and village governments.

Media Campaign

Optimising social media and partnering with mass media to broaden public understanding and strengthen support for disability justice.

Programme Strategies

Ensure the fulfillment of rights and access to essential services for people with psychosocial disabilities, including protection from violence, strengthened community-based rehabilitation, and greater participation in development.

Encourage employers, vocational training centers, and empowerment programs to open access to inclusive employment and entrepreneurship, including soft loans for people with disabilities who run small businesses.

Strengthen multi-stakeholder forums and coalitions within the disability equity movement to foster sustained advocacy and support.

Ensuring Access to Basic Services

  • Partnering with community health centres in six locations — Mamuju, Southwest Sumba, Gunungsitoli, Sukoharjo, Wonogiri, and East Lombok — and with social rehabilitation centres in Wonogiri, Kebumen, Banjarnegara, and Gunungsitoli to provide medical care, rehabilitation, and social support
  • Developing referral mechanisms for violence cases involving persons with disabilities
  • Working with Australia Awards Indonesia to open study opportunities in Australia for persons with disabilities

Inclusive Policy Advocacy

  • Promoting the issuance of Regional Action Plan for Persons with Disabilities (RAD-PD), regional regulations, and inclusive policies in Southwest Papua, Banten, Central Java, West Sulawesi, North Sumatra, and West Nusa Tenggara
  • Contributing to the development of national standards for assistive devices and a study on task shifting in physical therapy at the national levels.

Institutionalising Mental Health Services through TPKJM

Establishing and revitalising 16 Community Mental Health Implementation Teams (TPKJM)structures from village to district/city level, formally recognised by local governments as coordinators of cross-sectoral mental health services.

Strengthening Rehabilitation Center Services

Supporting the transformation of four rehabilitation centres from custodial to human rights-based models, including facility improvements, removal of isolation rooms, development of inclusive SOPs, and active involvement of residents.

Psychosocial Disability Data Collection

Collaborating with Duta Wacana Christian University to map the needs of persons with psychosocial disabilities in six provinces: Central Java, Banten, West Sulawesi, North Sumatra, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara
