Pasar SepaHAM 2024: Celebrating Social Inclusion and Citizenship Rights

The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FISIPOL UGM), hosted Pasar SepaHAM 2024 in October 2024 under the theme “Unjuk Rasa, Saling Jaga”. Held at Selasar Barat and Taman Sansiro, FISIPOL UGM, this event marked the culmination of the Dissemination Seminar on Social Inclusion and Citizenship Research series, an initiative led by FISIPOL UGM as one of INKLUSI’s research partners.

The event was a collaborative effort involving other INKLUSI partners, including ‘Aisyiyah, the Indonesian Family Planning Association of Yogyakarta (PKBI DIY), the YAKKUM Rehabilitation Centre (PR YAKKUM), and Inclusion Center and Advocacy Movement for the Disabled (SIGAB Indonesia).

Inspired by the concept of a pop-up marketplace, Pasar SepaHAM 2024 created a vibrant space for cross-generational dialogue and interaction among diverse community groups. Over 40 local communities and civil society organisations from Yogyakarta participated, with highlights including a performance by Puser Bumi, a musical group of blind musicians.

The event featured a wide range of interactive activities such as talk shows, exhibitions, workshops, bazaars, art performances, and games. These activities were designed to connect attendees with marginalised groups and provide deeper insights into the challenges they face.

Through Pasar SepaHAM, the public is encouraged to embrace the importance of social inclusion and work collectively to foster a fairer, more equal society that upholds the citizenship rights of all individuals, particularly marginalised groups in Indonesia.
